Congratulations to Club member Sarah Thompson, who has successfully completed her first Atlantic crossing — a milestone achievement and one that many of us can only dream of.

Sarah set off from the Canary Islands, joining a delivery crew bound for the Caribbean, and spent just under three weeks at sea navigating trade winds, changing weather systems, and the everyday realities of life aboard on a long ocean passage.

"There's nothing quite like watching land disappear behind you and knowing the only way forward is onward," Sarah told us. "It tested everything I've learned over the years — navigation, watch-keeping, boat handling — but also just how to live well with a small crew for weeks at a time."

Sarah credits much of her preparation to courses and experience gained through the Club, including her Yachtmaster training and countless weekends spent honing her skills on rallies and cruises with fellow members.

She's since shared her passage log and photos with the Club, and will be speaking about her experience at an upcoming members' evening — details to follow soon.
